  6. This program fixes some very bad bugs in the floppy routines of
  7. TOS2.06, 3.06, 4.00, 4.01, 4.02, 4.04. I can not understand how
  8. it is possible to insert so much bugs in only some kByte of code -
  9. by only adding some lines in the language C. I think it was a
  10. very bad programmer (or a typist, not a programmer). I can not
  11. understand that Atari does not distribute this patch as an offical
  12. one. I tried it more than once (my first bug report I think
  13. has gone directly in the trash can, otherwise these bugs would not
  14. be present in the Falcon TOS).

  16. These bugs will bite you very hard if you use above TOS versions
  17. and have two disc drives. But one disc drive is enough to get in
  18. touch with these bugs too.

  20. Only some examples:
  21. try to copy a HD (1.44MB) disc on a Falcon using the desktop
  22. disccopy function. You will get an error message before writing
  23. the destination and your desktop becomes a bit unnormal (eg changed
  24. sizes of characters). The same result you will get using some
  25. copy or format programs which are correct, but do not work around
  26. this TOS-bugs.
  27. try to display a longer file from a write protected disc drive B:
  28. You continue after the floppy motor stopped (and the light
  29. turned off). The motor will start and an error message will be
  30. displayed (in German: "LESEFEHLER", direct translation: read error)

  32. This errors are caused by the try to make the disc-changed-detection
  33. more relayable connected with the unability of the programmer.
  34. Now there are disc changes assumed which never took place and some memory
  35. contends can be destroyed.

  38. Atari. (The suitable words I know only in German!)
